What can I say- spot on....I agree that I think the preferred is a key issue for the banks. As I have told folks for about a year we are going to get something nasty like the 70's or the twenties depending on what the government does. How do you short MBS? I think Karls point about what might happen in 09 is very pertinent. I think today you would want to short treasuries and go long MBSBut I think the trade of a lifetime is coming up with long treasuries and short MBS when the new president ring fences the treasury.
