SHARJAH -- Water supply in the emirate of Sharjah has been improved to a great extent as compared to last summer, said Eng. Mohammed Tarish, head of Water Directorate in Sharjah Electricity and Water Authority (Sewa)Sharjah Electricity and Water Authority (Sewa)
.
Speaking to Khaleej Times, Eng. Tarish stressed that the residents of Sharjah would not face water scarcity in future as new projects worth Dh40 million had ensured improved networks and better distribution in all parts of Sharjah.
He explained that the projects include the launch of a new four-kilometre water distribution line from the main water desalination plant in Alliah area to feed areas between Al Jubail and Al Fisht.
With regard to water shortage in Al Muwailih, he said that SewaSewa
is making great efforts to solve the water shortage in Muwailih district and its neighbouring areas by increasing the water pressure in the distribution networks.
The water distribution networks have just been linked with pipelines from Al Badie to Helwan. The water lines in Al Sajja water desalination plants have been enhanced to be able to pump the water to end the problem of water scarcity in Al Muwailih and its neighbouring villages. The improvement of water supply in these areas cost SewaSewa
Dh6 million.
SewaSewa
has also intensified its efforts to enhance water quality in Al Nouf, Gharain, Juraina and University City by connecting them to the new water lines coming from Gaddfa water plant in Al Ain City owned by the Federal Electricity and Water Authority (Fewa)Federal Electricity and Water Authority (Fewa)
